Richard Odgers
Executive Assistant
Richard comes to Lawhub having worked in a variety of industries in different places over the years. This includes 20 years of golf course greenkeeping in both Canterbury and Otago, with extensive time spent on both the Otago/Southland regional committee and NZ Golf Greenkeeping Assoc. national committee.
Richard spent the last two years of his greenkeeping career at the Otago Polytechnics Cromwell campus as tutor/HOD in Sports Turf Management. He also juggled his time with greenkeeping/tutoring to enable himself to work as a moderator for the NZ Sports Turf ITO, assessing the practical work of apprentices in Otago/Southland.
Other industries worked in whilst down south included time at Southland Warm Homes Trust working as both an on-site assessor for insulation requirements and heating needs, and as a quality assessor in conjunction with Opus, ensuring all completed work was up to building code standards. Richard also worked in the courier industry for five years in Southland /Canterbury as well as a short interlude in dairy farming (“Not my cup of tea.”)
Upon returning to Christchurch, Richard spent the next five years as a Team Leader at Grounds & Services Ltd (GSL), which after the earthquakes, saw him become involved in the rebuilding and “growing in” of a large number of sportsfields around Christchurch – principally Rugby Park, the soccer fields at North HagleyPark/Foster Park and Leslie Park (Hornby Rugby League.)
Along with several qualifications in greenkeeping and tutoring, Richard also has an NZIM Certificate in Business Management.
Richard’s primary role at Lawhub is to assist the Family Law team. Richard will also assist the General Manager with projects aimed at extending the family team’s presence into other regions.
Away from the job front, Richard is an avid follower of rugby, cricket and horse racing. He enjoys reading extensively (the proud owner of nearly 2000 books), gardening, the great outdoors and spending time with the family’s two border collies, Truby and Dharma.
